Anita’s Top 5 Romantic Spots in Vasto
“I’m going to propose to my girlfriend when we’re on vacation in Italy. I’d like to do it in a really romantic spot, what would you recommend?”
This question was in an email from a Guest who had just made a reservation. An incurable romantic, I immediately responded with my personal favorites list, which I’m sharing with you now. These places are not only beautiful but have played a role in our love story.
5. San Michele
If you walk all the way up through the Villa Comunale, you’ll find a little church that carries the name of Vasto’s Patron Saint, San Michele. If you’re a believer, you can enter the church and ask the Saint for special protection for your engagement. Even if you’re not religious, this place can have a strong emotional impact, and the view outside takes your breath away.
4. The Libertini Beach
This gorgeous natural beach can be found in the Natural Reserve of Punta Aderci. Umberto took me here for one of our very first dates, I still have the pebbles that we collected that day. It’s a great place also for a romantic Champagne breakfast.
3. Bagni Vistamare
Dinner on the beach, under the moonlight, smooth music playing in the background, a soft sea breeze kissing your skin… does it get any more romantic than that?
Our anniversary is in July, and we’re obviously not traveling anywhere to celebrate it on the day. Luckily, it’s not necessary with places like this nearby.
Bagni Vistamare is the beach restaurant at the Grotta del Saraceno holiday village, a 10-minute drive from Vasto city center.
2. Trabocco Cungarelle
You may have noticed I love trabocchi. They’re mysteriously beautiful to me at daytime, and at night, very romantic. We organized our 5th anniversary, “the Love Party”, at Trabocco Cungarelle a few years ago. Wonderful memories!
1. Outside “La Sterlina” in Vasto Marina
Ok, this may not look like such a romantic spot, but for us it is. Because this is where we met.
It was around 7am on a heated July morning in 2013. Me, all sweaty after a morning run, and Umberto in his perfectly ironed blue shirt (obviously not the t-shirt in the photo, it was taken a few years back).
He said “buongiorno”, and our lives changed forever...
